Angier - Dallas Junior Collins, 87, died Tuesday at Windsor Point where he had resided for two and a half years. A native of Harnett County he was the son of the late Dallas Ferdinand and Zora Kelley Collins. After retiring from farming, Dallas enjoyed playing his banjo with his friends. He is a former member of Banjo in the Hollow. He and Hilda traveled to many bluegrass and gospel festivals. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Angier.Graveside Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Angier Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Duane Hix officiating. Surviving are his wife of fifty six years, Bettie Hilda Byrd Collins, sister, Sarah C. Weis, half-sisters, Peggy C. Johnson, Linda C. Lawrence, Betty C. Upchurch all of Angier; half-brother, Richard A. Collins of Angier; and thirty one nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha C. Pleasant, Inez C. Stephenson, Malissie Tripp, Velma C, Myatt, Mary C. Gilliam, brothers, Jimmy Collins, Colon Collins, and Clarence Collins. The family wishes to thank the staff and many friends at Windsor Point for the wonderful care that Dallas received while he was a resident there. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers of NC, Inc. 1305 Navaho Dr., Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27609 or to White Memorial Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1459 White Memorial Church Rd. , Willow Spring, NC 27592, in Dallas Collins’ memory.
