Dan R. Critcher, 87, of Rolesville, NC died March 15, 2021 at Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh after being in declining health this past year. Dan was born in Oxford, NC on January 20, 1934, the youngest of three children, to Calvin Judson Critcher and Lois Royster Critcher. He grew up on the family tobacco farm in Granville County. He was a graduate of Oxford High School, served in the US Army, and attended East Carolina University. Dan had a successful career in data processing, first at FCX from 1957 to 1961 (in the early days of punch cards). He went to work for Wake County in 1961 to set up a data processing system. He retired in 1989 as the Associate Director. After retirement he spent many happy hours doing things he enjoyed. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nell Dunn Critcher; son, Lyle Sherman Critcher and wife Holly and granddaughter Kelsey Lynn Critcher of Raleigh. Also surviving are a brother, Howard J. Critcher of Raleigh; a nephew, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alton Royster Critcher; and a sister, Ann Finch. Dan was a faithful and serving member of Wake Forest Baptist Church. He loved his church family, especially the Koinonia Sunday School class. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall of Wake Forest Baptist Church. Masks and social distancing will be necessary. Burial will be at 2:00PM in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Wake Forest Baptist Church, 118 E.
