ANGIER – Daniela “Dani” King, 48, passed away at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh on Tuesday. A native of Seligenstadt, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Gerhard Sommer and Gisela Frieda Galoch Sommer. In 1990, Dani began her career in the dental field while working as a bagger at Albertson’s. A customer came through her line, said, “Hey, you’re German! Why don’t you come work for me?” Two weeks later she started training in the radiology department as an x-ray tech at the Baylor University College of Dentistry. This was followed by another training position at the Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, as Dani moved with her husband’s career. Dani completed her formal certification in Dental Assisting from the Red Cross while her husband was stationed at Anderson Air Base in Guam. For four of the last eight years, she has worked in the Sanford office of Lane and Associates, where the doctors and staff became her second family. Dani was devoted to her beloved husband and two sons, as well as to her dogs. She also loved travel and the outdoors, whether it was walking along the Platte river or landing in Japan during a typhoon. Moving to North Carolina allowed her to put down roots for the first time, and she took up motorcycle riding. She and husband Jon attended several rallies, and the highlight of her year was riding to the Eastern Rendezvous every May where she could get away from it all and adult with her many friends! A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Dani is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Jonathan King; sons, Judge William King and Stephen Christopher King both of Angier; sisters, Marion Mittscherlich and husband, Michael of Seligenstadt, Germany, Kerstin Sommer of Hanau, Germany; brother, Andreas Sommer and wife, Ulla of Sontra, Germany; numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dani was preceded in death by her brother, Gerhard Sommer. Online condolences may be made to bryan-leefuneralhome.com
