Danny Aubrey Thomasson

Danny Aubrey Thomasson, age 73, of Durham, passed away Thursday December 21, 2017 at the Durham VA Hospital after a long battle with sickness due to a stroke and Parkinson’s Disease. Danny was born in Kings Mountain, NC on April 16, 1944 to the late John Wesley Thomasson and Catherine Jones Thomasson.  Danny graduated Kings Mountain High School in 1962, joined the Navy in 1964, and served as an Aviation Maintenance Administrator until 1969. Danny was employed at Estes Express Lines in Wilmington for 27 years as an OS&D Clerk. Danny enjoyed fishing and working with plants such as gardenias, banana palm trees, and angel trumpets.  He gave away all that he rooted, or grew to anyone that showed interest. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister: Joan Thomasson Ramsey, and three brothers: Johnny Thomasson, Gerald Thomasson, and Jackie Thomasson. Danny is survived by Kathleen Turner Thomasson, wife of 43 years; daughter April Crist with husband Jeffrey, grandson Turner Steven Crist, of Durham, daughter Irene Thomasson of Wilmington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins—all of whom he loved very much. Funeral services will be conducted at The Temple of Pentecost, 2312 Lake Wheeler Rd, Raleigh, NC at 12 Noon on Tuesday December 26, 2017.  Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 2107 Liberty St. Durham, NC at approximately 2:00 PM. Pall Bears: Trent Thomasson, Bruce Turner, Mike Maxwell, Mack Turner, Jim Turner Family will receive friends prior service at 11:00 AM at The Temple of Pentecost.
