Darby Jean Girardi

RALEIGH – Darby Jean Girardi, 26, lost her battle to addiction on Saturday, January 22, 2022. For many that knew her, Darby was at her core a beautiful, loving young woman. She loved good music, festivals, and bright colorful things. Somewhere along the way the light within Darby was dimmed as a result of her struggles with Mental health and substance use. In addition to taking the life of Darby, her disease leaves behind the broken hearts of many family members and friends. Darby’s family asks that you realize the global extent and impact that this disease has taken, and understand that no one is immune. We will choose to remember Darby’s love for her daughter Bri, her sense of humor, and her passion for equality. Darby leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Brielle Rose Girardi; parents, Kris and Rich Girardi; sister, Arden Grace Girardi; maternal grandparents, Donna and Bob Owens; paternal grandparents, Bob and Jean Girardi; aunts, Karey Casey and husband, Jeff, and their children, Kate and Colton, Cyndy Pontier and husband, Wayne, and their children, Colton and Hunter; uncle, Matt Girardi and wife, Kim, and their son, Christopher; godparents, Joanne and Doug Hoyns, and their children, Hannah and Michael; and her canine and feline companions, Nahla and Moxxie. The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation beginning at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3:00 PM. The family will host a reception over light refreshments at the funeral home at the conclusion of the memorial service. The family respectfully requests the clothing attire of the memorial events to be casual, and bright colors are encouraged as a tribute to Darby’s colorful life. All are invited to come as you are.
