David Hagwood

GARNER -James David Hagwood, 53, died Monday. A native of Wake County, he is the son of Charles Hagwood and the late Kay Montgomery Hagwood. David was the owner and operator of Garner Carpet. He was a charter member of the Garner Mid-day Rotary Club and former Assistant District Governor for Rotary District 7710. He was a founding member of the Garner Volunteer Rescue Squad and served as chairman of the Garner Planning Board for 10 years. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner. Burial will follow at Wootens Chapel FreeWill Baptist Church Cemetery, Sauls Road, Raleigh. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Whitley Hagwood; daughter, Beth Stancil of Clayton; father, Charles Hagwood of Garner; brothers, Michael Hagwood and wife, Margaret of DeWitt, VA and Jeff Hagwood and wife, Gabrielle of Queensland, Australia; nieces, Stacey Hauff, Kelly Bassette and Sarah Gormley and his beloved aunts and uncle. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hagwood. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
