David Kevin Lawrence

ROCKY MOUNT - David Kevin Lawrence, age 75, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Durham. He was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts on June 24, 1947, the son of the late Freeman and Florence Crocker Lawrence. After graduating from high school, Dave honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force. Upon completing three years he moved to South Florida where he met his wife of 52 years, Patty. Together they raised two children. Dave and Patty loved touring the country on their motorcycle, he loved music and played bass guitar in local bands throughout South Florida. He loved drag racing and was an announcer at Miami-Hollywood Speedway Park. He also loved visiting the beach and mountains. He enjoyed being around people and staying in touch with his life long friends. Dave mostly loved his family and his dog, Lila. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his father-and-mother-in-law, Victor and Joanne Riney; and by his sister, Donna Hamblin. He is survived by his wife, Patrica Lawrence; son, Chris Lawrence and wife, Sandy; daughter, Michelle Lawrence; grandson, Anthony Lawrence; granddaughter, Savannah Baker and husband, Tucker; great-granddaughter, Keyarah Baker; brother-in-law, Gary Riney and Joel Margolies who was like a son to him.
