Deane Joyner Overby

Raleigh-Deane Joyner Overby went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014. She was born in Rocky Mount, NC on August 18, 1940 to Oliver Alfonza Joyner and Edna Harper Joyner.After graduating from John Graham High School in Warrenton, NC, Deane had a successful career in the banking industry. A strong, independent woman whose smile could light up a room, Deane enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed game night with her siblings and Cousin Herbert Joyner.She is survived by her children: Anthony B Overby, Raleigh and Janice O Edwards (Don), Wendell; her grandchildren: Somer Overby, Victoria Overby, Donnie Edwards, Lillian Edwards, Keith Isaacs, Stephanie Wiggins and Maria Edwards; Great Granddaughter: McKinley Rose Holder; Siblings: Shirley Abbott (Vernon), Raleigh, Steve Joyner (Margie), Raleigh, and Vicky Gupton (Russell), Louisburg.A Memorial Service followed by visitation will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh, on Sun Oct. 5, 2014 at 4:00PM.
