Deborah Powell

Deborah Jean Powell, age 64, of Benson, NC died Saturday, April 5, 2025 in her home. She was born on March 4, 1961. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Woodrow and Betty Viola Matthews.

She is survived by her children, Christopher Baker and his wife, Sonya, Matthew Baker and his wife, Angel and Emily Jean Morrow and her husband, Justin; her grandchildren, Dakota, Montana, Bri-Anna, Aaron, Caleb, Dixie and Hunter; and her brother, Tony Matthews.

Debbie loved the Lord and her family. She always enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Though her health did not permit her to be able to go to church, she was always watching sermons online to stay connected to the Lord. She was a firm reader of the Bible and listening to gospel music. She was a Wake County Schools bus driver for 25 years, making sure that children made it to school and back home safely. Over her years as a bus driver, she was invited to the North Carolina Bus Roadeo. During those times, she placed 3rd in the state.

Her visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm in the Duncan Church of God, 1066 Oakridge Duncan Rd, Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the Duncan Church of God with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
