Del A. Smith

August 9, 1954 — January 25, 2021

Angier- Del Adams Smith, 66, went home to be with her Savior on Monday, January 25, 2021. Living all of her life in Harnett County, she was the eldest daughter of the late C. C. (Billy) Adams, Jr. and late Frances Hayes Adams. She was a graduate of Angier High School and Campbell University. While she began her educator career with Wake County Schools, Del spent her best years teaching and encouraging so many students in Harnett County Schools at Western Harnett Middle, Overhills Middle, and Coats-Erwin Middle Schools, where she retired from in 2020. While she enjoyed teaching science and chatting and laughing with her work family, spending time with her family, reading, and watching Jeopardy were her loves. She was preceded in death by her parents and fur-baby Raisin. She is survived by her daughter, Christy (Smith) Sutton and husband Chris of Greenville, and son, Bret S. Smith of Morrisville; grandchildren Marissa Sutton and Emmitt Sutton; her sister Susan G. Adams and Lisa Zimmerman and nephew Luke Zimmerman of Garner; and several sweet aunts and cousins. Due to COVID concerns, a private service will be held for the family on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Williams officiating. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend a 12:00pm burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens on Thursday, January 28, 2021. The family wishes to thank the many friends for the outpouring of love and prayers during this unexpected time of loss. Flowers are appreciated, or donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
