Garner– Delmas Tharrington Williams, 86, died Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Joe and Minnie Kelly Williams. Delmas retired from Capital Ford after 65 years of service, beginning with Sanders Motor Co. A World War II US Navy Veteran, he was a member of Garner United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and the choir. Delmas was Past Master of Garner Lodge No. 701, Past Patron of Garner OES 321 with membership of over 50 years, a charter member of Amran Shrine Temple and was a Past Dist. Deputy Grand Lecturer. He was a charter member of the Garner Volunteer Fire Department and served for over 30 years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday at Garner United Methodist Church, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh with Masonic Rites. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bessie Bridges Williams; daughter, Bonnie W. Goad and husband, Bob of Garner; brother-in-law, Ernest Bridges and wife, Joyce of Garner; nephew, George Moon of Burlington; niece, Audrey B. Harty of Garner; great-niece, Amy Moon of Madera Beach, FL; great-nephew, Scott Harty of Garner; aunt, Nellie Macon of Garner. In addition to his parents Delmas is preceded in death by his sister Doris W. Moon and a brother-in-law, John A. Bridges and wife, Catherine.
