GREENSBORO - Dewey Clarence Crutchfield Jr., 92, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022. He was born in Greensboro on November 1, 1929, the son of Dewey and Esther Mae Crutchfield. He was married to Florence Howell Crutchfield (deceased 2017) for 66 years. He was a member of Starmount Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. Dewey maintains a distinguished history in Masonic organizations, spanning 68 years as a Mason. He served in many statewide leadership roles in the Scottish Rite, Shrine, and Eastern Star. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel at WhiteStone Masonic and Eastern Star community on Friday, June 24, at 10:00 am. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am in the family cemetery in Youngsville, NC, on Saturday, June 25, followed by visitation at 1:00 pm at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1919 Fletchers Chapel Road, Durham, NC 27703. Dewey is survived by: his children, Jane Brocious (Bob), Joe Crutchfield (Debbie), Suzanne Cobb (Jimmy), and Paul Crutchfield (Kim); 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bobby Crutchfield (Gloria), Robert Crutchfield (Christine); sister-in-law Maxine Lane; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital (Amran Temple, 11101 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC 27614), Starmount Presbyterian Church (3501 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403), Fletcher’s Chapel UMC (1919 Fletchers Chapel Road, Durham, NC 27703), or AuthoraCare Hospice (2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405).
