Diane Collins Campbell, 73, passed away on August 3, 2021 after a three year battle with multiple myeloma. Diane was born on September 23, 1947, in Morgantown, West Virginia to Haydn and Patricia Collins who preceded her in death. Diane grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Psychology from Caldwell College and earned her Masters degree in Special Education from Duke University. Diane met the love of her life, Charles, at a Dairy Queen in New Jersey and they married in 1969 and went on to have two children, Leslie and Chuck. After living in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Maryland early in their marriage, they returned for good to North Carolina in 1978. Diane spent the majority of her teaching career with the Wake County Public School System at Aversboro Elementary and Timber Drive Elementary in Garner. Diane cared deeply for her family and all her students and colleagues. Diane was also a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Raleigh. Diane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles, her son, Chuck Campbell of Hillsborough, her daughter, Leslie Driver and husband Todd of Fuquay-Varina, and her grandchildren, Mason and Hayden. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Deysher of Southport, NC, and brothers Mark Collins (Donna) of Bluffton, SC and Brian Collins of Macungie, PA and their families. She is also survived by Charles’s beloved brothers and sisters and their families. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday Aug. 7, 2021 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church one hour prior to the service from 11- 12. The family would like to thank Dr. Ranjit Joseph and the wonderful staff at Rex Hematology Oncology Associates in Cary for their care and compassion since Diane’s cancer diagnosis. Memorial contributions can be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
