Diane Marie Bergendahl

Diane M. Bergendahl, 67, of Garner, NC passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on June 13th, 2023 after a brief battle with Lung cancer. She is survived by her brother, Jack Donahue and his wife, Trish Donahue, of Leland, NC; two sons, Christopher Moody, of Acton, MA (now Garner, NC), Jonathan Moody and his significant other, Jennifer Caserta, of Holly Springs, NC; and one grandson, Weston Moody.

Diane was born in Lawrence, MA on April 28, 1956, and raised in North Andover, MA, a daughter of John and Iris (Sheirbon) Donahue. She lived in Dracut, MA for 16 years before retiring and moving to Garner, NC in 2019. Before her retirement, she was a long term employee of the Andover Companies for 30+ years which was a testament to her loyalty to the company and to her co-workers she had built lasting friendships with.

Diane’s compassion for animals was only exceeded by her devotion to her family which was her greatest joy in life (especially her grandson.) In her down time she would either be taking walks with close friends or her dog, Rue, working on bead artwork, or enjoying time with her cats at home. Her strength, determination, and unwavering faith guided her through life’s hurdles, allowing her to overcome addictions to drugs and alcohol; while her sharp wit and sarcastic charm left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her. Even when she was faced with her cancer diagnoses, just a couple months prior to her passing, she never lost her spirit and that was an inspiration for everyone close to her.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, at 4pm with visiting hours prior, from 2pm to 4pm in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home located in Garner located at 1200 Benson Rd Garner, NC 27529.
