ANGIER – Richard Sidney “Dick” Cruickshank, 80, passed away on Sunday at his home. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Walter Shaw Cruickshank and Mabel Evelyn Southerland Cruickshank.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17th at 3pm at Angier Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl Davis Cruickshank; sons, Andy Cruickshank (Rachael), and Bryan Cruickshank (Amy) of Angier; brother, David Cruickshank of North Kingstown, RI; grandchildren, Kate and Ellen Cruickshank, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George Cruickshank and Harry Cruickshank.
Dick worked for IBM for 27 years before starting his own contracting business. He was a faithful member of Angier Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and in other active roles in the congregation. Dick harbored a deep affection for dogs, particularly golden retrievers, and spent time working on his antique cars, playing golf with friends, and tending to his garden. Dick's generosity knew no bounds, as he consistently went out of his way to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angier Baptist Church, 155 S Hickory St, Angier, NC 27501.
