Dixie Ferguson Coats

GARNER – Dixie Ferguson Coats, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Born in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie W. and Thuzy Bray Stanley. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Stan Ferguson of Burnsville; daughter, Paula F. Etheridge of Wilson; grandson, Van Paul Etheridge (Dana) of Wilson; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Virginia Etheridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. Carey Coats of Clayton and her grandson, Dale Hunter Etheridge of Elm City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Moriah Baptist Church POD 185, 3000 E. Garner Rd., Raleigh, NC 27610 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 506 Alexander Ave., Durham, NC 27705.
