SEPTEMBER 25, 1940 - AUGUST 21, 2012 Angier - Dixie Merle Honeycutt Crone, 71, of 111 Wed Denning Rd., passed away on Tuesday at her home. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Hettie Page and Eugene Honeycutt. Mrs. Crone was passionate about loving her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, sister and friend. She was known for her sense of humor, infectious laugh, mischievous behavior and most of all, her deep-loving heart. Mrs. Crone grew up in the Angier/Harnett County area, later moved to Abilene, TX. and Bothel, WA and back to Fayetteville, NC and eventually settling in Raleigh in 1971. By Gods divine timing, she returned to her childhood home of Angier where she worked with her husband to build their dream home in the midst of her family. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, word searches and Suduko until the end - things to challenge her mind and thinking - and listening to K-Love praise music, yellow roses, travel adventures, good jokes and her grandkids. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by sisters, Zelma Ennis, Evelyn Haire, Jewel Horton and brothers, Lonnie Honeycutt and Stronnie Honeycutt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, officiated by her son by marriage, Rev. Eddie Hill. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Crone is survived by her husband of 47 years, Allen L. Crone, Sr., daughter, Nita M. Gregory Hill and husband, Eddie of Holden Beach, sons, Michael W. Gregory and wife, Tara of Clayton, Allen L. Crone, Jr. and wife Anne of Montclair, NJ; her dearly loved grandchildren, Savanna Gregory, Jacob Hill, Chase Hill, Zane Hill, Bryson Hill and Abby Gregory; sisters, Julia Webb and husband J. E. of Erwin, Portia Adams and husband Max of Angier; brothers, Otha Honeycutt and wife Frances of Angier, Thomas Honeycutt and wife, Justine of New Bern; Calvin Honeycutt of Angier and Sammy Honeycutt and wife Ann of Angier.
