Domenica P. (Mae) Poole

Raleigh – Domenica P. (Mae) Poole, 94, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Nonna to her great grandchildren died February 26, 2016. She was born October 28, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and on July 11, 1945 married the love of her life, Henry H. Poole, Jr., who along with their great-granddaughter, Annabelle Hourigan, preceded her in death. Her Italian heritage was evident in her zest for life, her wonderful cooking and her passion for her family and friends. She was retired from NCSU Division of Continuing Education, and lived in Raleigh for many years before moving to Cary in retirement. She is survived by her son, Haywood Poole (Marian); daughter, Brenda Barker (Robert); grandsons, Scott Hourigan (Laura); Richard Hourigan (Kathryn); Brian Hourigan (Stacey); Stewart Poole; Will Poole; great grandchildren Lily Hourigan, Layla Hourigan, Stella Hourigan, Jameson Hourigan. The family would like to thank her wonderful compassionate caregivers Barbara Fraser, Angela Gilmore, Audrey Binns, and the staff of Mayview Convalescent Center. A private burial will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park.  On Tuesday, March 1st at 2:00 pm,  a Celebration of Life Service will be held at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, 8501 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh, 27615.  Visitation and reception will follow immediately after the service at the church.
