Dominick Sorrenti, 87, passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He is proceeded in death by Ruthanne Sorrenti his wife of 60 years. He was born and lived much of his life in North Bergen, New Jersey. As a young man he served in the US Army in Germany during the 1950’s. Upon returning from the military he married and took over the family business. Sorrenti’s Market is where he was a butcher and successfully ran the business for many years. As a matter of need, he went to night school to learn electrical, air conditioning and heating so he could do the repairs himself at the family meat market.
He then moved to McAfee, NJ where he changed his career to work for Nabisco, retiring after 30 years from their product delivery network. He then relocated to Raleigh, NC. with his loving wife Ruthanne.
Dominick was a devoted Christian husband/father and remained very faithful to his family. He was also a faithful member of North Haven Church, Raleigh, NC. He and his wife would participate in bowling leagues and loved to hike at Falls River Dam. He loved watching the Mets baseball team as well as many other professional sports teams on television. He had a positive impact on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren teaching some of them to drive, listening to Billy Joel and John Denver with the windows down during their rides, and having lengthy conversations about life in general. He was always good for a quick witted saying. He also loved sharing his favorite oatmeal raisin cookies, and making his special family recipe Italian sausage which was a full family affair when it happened.
Dominick Sorrenti was affectionately known by his close family and friends throughout his life by many aliases - Dad, Poppie, Pops, Uncle Dick, Dick, Dickie, Rich, Richard, Nick, Nicky and last but not least “The Cookie Man”!
Dominick is survived by three children- Diane Breen, Steven Sorrenti, and Kristen Sorrenti-Kotkin; six grandchildren - Amanda White, Danielle Breen, Anthony Sorrenti-Kotkin, Hannah Sorrenti-Kotkin, Joshua Sorrenti-Kotkin and Caleb Sorrenti-Kotkin and two great grandchildren-Isabella White and August White.
