Donald Braxton

RALEIGH - Donald Braxton passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Transitions Lifecare Hospice. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn; son Donel and his wife, Terrie; granddaughters, Katie and her husband, Alex,  Anna and Emily; 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Braxton; a brother, Dillard; and sister, Ida Pearl; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy. One of four children, he was raised in Rocky Mount, NC and the Kennedy Home in Kinston, NC. He served in the US Army and worked on helicopters at the base in Frankfurt, Germany. After returning from Germany, he worked for the Railroad in Rocky Mount, NC. Later, he learned he had a passion for the food service and worked as a district manager at Hardee’s for 25 years. Donald loved to play golf, spend time with family, fish, and eat shrimp burgers at the Big Oak Drive-In. He also loved his dogs, especially Goldie. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and enjoyed his Sunday School class and singing in the choir with his wife. A celebration of life service will be held at a later time.
