Donald Bruce Shaffer

RALEIGH - It is with a very deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Donald Bruce Shaffer, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Don passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alma Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Housholder), and children Sanford L. Shaffer and Marilyn Jane Rimmer. Children William B. Shaffer and Elaine F. Gonnella preceded him in passing. A memorial service for Don will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Garner at 3:00 pm. The family wishes to inform all concerned that attire for the service is casual, as the family will be meeting at the farm for a time of fishing, sharing of memories, and the telling of tall tales. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
