Donald Ray Shepherd

GARNER - It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Donald Ray Shepherd, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on August 8, 1949, in Ashe County, North Carolina, Don peacefully left this world on December 20, 2024, at his home in Garner, NC.

Don was known for his hard work in the construction and landscaping industry, but it was his passion for gardening that truly brought him joy. He took great pride in cultivating his plants, with irises being his favorite. The beauty he nurtured in his garden mirrored the love he shared with those around him.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Gale Shepherd, and their two children, Lori Harper and Scott Shepherd. Don will also be warmly remembered by his grandsons: Alexander, Jeremiah, Caleb, and Colton, who brought him so much pride and happiness.

A celebration of Don's life will be held on a future date at a location to be determined, where family and friends will gather to share memories, laughter, and stories of the man who touched so many lives. We invite all who knew Don to join us in honoring his legacy and the love he shared with everyone.

In this difficult time, let us remember Don not with sadness, but with gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. Our cherished memories of him will bloom like the irises he adored, forever brightening our hearts.
