Donna Sanders

Smithfield – Donna Wood Sanders, 64, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, at home with her family. Donna was born December 7, 1956, in Garner, NC, to the late Thomas and Lela Wood. She attended Garner Senior High School and then continued her education at Watts School of Nursing, graduating in 1978. She had many nursing roles throughout her career with her last 20 years at WakeMed Health and Hospitals. Her colleagues knew her as a beautiful caring soul always being a shoulder to lean on. Throughout her own health battles, she continued her dedication to others. Her most treasured role though was as a mother and grandmother. Donna is survived by her children, Robbie Sanders, wife Brittany, Kimberly Stallings, husband Mark; grandsons, Wyatt and Weston Sanders, Ethan, and Austin Stallings; as well as many special friends and coworkers. The family extends their gratitude to Transitions Life Care especially Nurse Autumn for their support and kindness. Friends are invited to say a final goodbye on Saturday July 10, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to to the SPCA of Wake County “200 Petfinder Ln, Raleigh, NC or Colorectal Cancer Alliance “1025 Vermont Ave NW, 10th floor Washington, DC 20005” in Donna’s name.
