Donna Smith Johnson

RALEIGH – Donna Smith Johnson, 75, passed away peacefully on, July 16, 2024. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on September 18, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Wallace George Smith, Sr., and Vara Flowers Smith.

Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. On November 9, 1968, she married the love of her life and best friend, Robert Glenn Johnson, Sr., spending 55 memorable years together. After graduating from Garner High School, she attended Appalachian State University and followed her passion for education by pursuing a career as a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years. She will be remembered fondly by her family and friends as a woman of great strength and conviction. She is now pain free and safe in the arms of her Lord.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Robert Glenn Johnson, Sr.; son, Robert Glenn Johnson, Jr. (Tracy); brother, George Smith (Cindy) of Rocky Mount; sisters, Becky Leonard (Karl) of Knightdale, and Vida Hall (Rick) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Chris Johnson (Jessica), Daniel Johnson, and Steven Johnson; and great grandchildren, Vanessa, Makayla, Mackenzie, Matthew, Micah, Imogen, Fable, and Elsie.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, North Carolina 27529. The family will receive friends and family for a period of visitation an hour prior to the service from 10 AM – 10:45 AM. A committal service will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
