Donna Sue Murray

GARNER - Donna Sue Murray, 67, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

She was born in Carteret County on September 9, 1955, the daughter of the late William Morgan Murray and the late Norma Gaskill Murray. Donna retired on March 1, 2021, from WakeMed after many years of service as a medical coder. After retirement, she volunteered and found her calling with the amazing Amedisys Hospice in Garner. A woman of faith, Donna was a dedicated choir member, preschool Sunday school teacher and nursery worker at her beloved church, Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh. She was a huge Caniac (Go Canes!) and loved to cheer them on during the games with her siblings.

Donna is survived by her mama, Ruth Durham Murray; sisters, Debra Lane Murray, Kathy Murray Hewitt and husband, Robert, Karen Murray Hall and husband, Eric; nieces and nephews, Alyssa Langley and husband, Brian, Robbie Hewitt and wife, Brooke, Courtney McDaniel and husband, Chris, Taylor Hall and wife, Cassie; great nieces and nephews, Madelynn, Lucas, Ivey, London, Ariana, Hunter, Olivia, and 2 “on the way"; her beloved feline sons, Duffy and Scout; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family humbly thanks Donna's Mid-Way Baptist Church and her Amedisys Hospice of Garner families for their tender love, care, thoughts, prayers, and support shown to Donna and her family during her illness. May God bless each of you always.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 2:00pm, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in Donna's memory to Amedisys Hospice of Garner: 220 New Fidelity Ct, Garner, NC 27529.
