Dora Gulley Bryan

GARNER - Dora Gulley Bryan, 84, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died Monday. A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Lucy Stancil Gulley. Lovingly known as Mama Dora by many family and friends, she was known for her wonderful home cooking and her love for the Lord. She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she was involved in WMU, Vacation Bible School, as well as being a Sunday School Director and teacher. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at New Bethel Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Survivors include her daughters Cindy Whitaker and husband, David Earl of Clayton and Laurie Knight and husband, Colon of Summerfield; sons, Bill Bryan and wife, Amanda and Chris Bryan and wife, Alison, all of Garner; sister, Wilma G. Blake of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brandon Whitaker and wife, Jennifer, Blake Whitaker and wife, Paige, Anna and Jonathan Knight, Will, Jenna, Jacob and Caroline Bryan; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Wes, Luke and Quinn Whitaker and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wade Bryan. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church, 2110 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529 or to the Alzheimers Association, 3739 National Dr., Ste. 110, Raleigh, NC 27612. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lawndale Manor for the loving care they provided.
