Angier – Doris Adams McLeod, 88, passed away Thursday. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Blanche Owen Adams. Doris was the owner of McLeod Florist for 54 years. She was a long-time member of the Angier Eastern Star and a member of Angier Baptist Church. In 1993, Doris was presented the Angier Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year Award. She was known by all as Mama Doris. Doris is survived by her daughters, Virginia M. Weis and husband, Bobby Joe, Jo Ann M. Johnson and husband, Steve; sisters, Ann Walker, Patsy Matthews, and Glenda Zimmerman. Brother, Roy Lee Adams, Jr.; grandchildren, Timmy Weis and wife, Debra, Brian Johnson and wife, Mary, Jennifer Hendges and husband, Chris and Kelvin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Logan, Ashton, Garrett, Taylor, Madison, Hunter, Cole, and Caleb; step great-grandchildren, Garrett and Robin; step great-great-grandchild, Makenzie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. McLeod; sisters, Barbara Butts and Lulie Gray Adams and brother, Lloyd Adams. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of Timmy and Debra Weis, the former home of Mama Doris.
