Doris Estelle Semmont

KNIGHTDALE – Doris Estelle Semmont died Thursday, August 29, 2019. She was born in Lynchburg, VA on April 8, 1933. At the age of 3 she moved to Baltimore where she was raised by her mother, Virginia Richardson and step-father, Victor Richardson. Doris loved to sing and dance, read mysteries by Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb. She wrote songs and poems and even sang for Johnny Cash. Playing with her children was her favorite past-time. She could kick a ball harder and further away than any of the boys. When most people were retiring, Doris came to life. She went to work at the Master’s Inn in Virginia, where she cooked daily for 150 people and provided the entertainment with songs, dance and jokes. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Albert H. Semmont, Jr.; sons, Stephen B. Semmont, Duke B. Semmont, Timothy A. Semmont; daughter, Deborah Gail O’Halloran; and her brothers, Samuel Luck and Robert Luck. She is survived by her sons, Allan Wayne Semmont, Mark Samuel Semmont, Albert Henry Semmont, Robert Vernon Semmont; daughters, Jane Elizabeth Semmont Sheesley, Bonnie Lynn Semmont Matter; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Green Pines Baptist Church in Knightdale with Reverend Jarrod Scott officiating.
