Doris Gill Lawrence Buffaloe, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 1, 2022 just 20 days from her 101st birthday. Doris was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend. Born August 21, 1921 to Winston Elijah Lawrence and Ida Belle Gill, Doris was an only child. Doris grew up in Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church where she served as a long-time pianist and organist. Later she became a charter member of Faith Bible Fellowship where she continued to play the piano. As a wife of a dairy and livestock farmer as well as landlord of rental properties, her days were always busy as she served her family and others. Doris loved gardening, cooking, sewing and needlepoint, enjoying time with her family and friends especially small gatherings where they would sing together and worship the Lord. She was a loving, dedicated mother who always greeted everyone with a smile. Doris believed in the power of prayer and remained a prayer warrior for her entire family even in her last day until her last breath. A lifetime resident of Wake County, she married her high school sweetheart and her soul mate Julian Buffaloe in 1941 after graduating from Peace College. They were married 73 years, setting an example of a Christian marriage to their sons and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Winston and Ida Belle Lawrence, husband Julian Buffaloe, son Dwight Buffaloe, and grandson Ken Buffaloe. Doris is survived by her son Julian Lawrence Buffaloe and his wife Ann of Eastover; daughter-in-law Brenda Buffaloe of Garner; four grandchildren: Laura Raynor and husband Patrick of Eastover, Alan Buffaloe and wife Lisa of Eastover, David Buffaloe and wife Karen of Garner, Bryan Buffaloe and wife Alissa of Creedmoor; fourteen great grandchildren: Daniel Raynor, Andrew Raynor, Matthew Raynor, Nathan Raynor, Christopher Moore and wife Darien, Hannah Moore, Elizabeth Buffaloe, Rachel Buffaloe, Jordan Buffaloe, Hayden Buffaloe, Jonah Buffaloe, Haley Buffaloe, Sadye Buffaloe and Addison Buffaloe; two great-great grandchildren: Braelie Moore and Kasen Moore; first cousin and “sister”, Patsy Lawrence Wooten and close friend and neighbor, Linda Anderson. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to care givers Jody Alford, Tammy Wilfong, Nancy Thomas, Faye Johnson, and Mary Whitley. Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 1905 Garner Glen Dr. Raleigh, N.C. 27603.
