Doris H. Ray

RALEIGH – Doris H. Ray, 88, passed away at her home on November 29, 2021. Doris was born in Rockingham County on June 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Willie and Ethel House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Macon House and Edward House. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Carl P. Ray; daughters, Diane Culpepper and husband, Clay of Raleigh, Cindy Coker and husband, Randy of Tarboro; son, Duke Ray of Friendship Community; grandchildren, Nick Culpepper and wife, Rachel of Raleigh, Erica Clark and husband, Justin of Winterville, Josh Coker of Tarboro, Audrey Miller and husband, Ryan of Deep River, Cierra Ray and significant other, Alex of Raleigh, Austin Ray of Morrisville; and her great grandchildren, Aiden, Charlotte, Ava, Miles, and Bea. The family will receive friends and relatives for a time of visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the home of Doris and Carl Ray: 613 Powell Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina 27606. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Historic Oakwood Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Kermit Braswell officiating.
