Doris Jean Whitley, 87, passed away Saturday, March 19th with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fuquay-Varina to Mary Lee Mills and Roger Leon Holland. She was blessed with a wonderful and joyful career of being a successful homemaker. Her sweetheart, B.H. Whitley, Jr. just recently passed on Valentines Day following 67 years of marriage. Mrs. Whitley was known for her gentleness and kindness to all, she lived a life enjoyed by spending time with her close family and friends. She found great joy spending time in the kitchen and cooking. Watching the beauty of the unfolding spring brought her great happiness, and even with her vision ability to help others becoming limited within the last year, she remained positive about enjoying special moments with her family and friends. She shined in her career choice to be a truly successful, full-time homemaker. She never stopped wanting to make those near-and-dear to her heart always feel at home and at ease. There was a great joy in being able to bring happiness and comfort to others. One of her most precious gifts was that of doing for others. She had a strong delight in care-giving. And her gift did not stop upon moving into the Whispering Pines Retirement Community, Raleigh. She quickly established her new home and many new friendships that she cherished deeply. She is survived by: Her Brother, Roger Lee Holland , son Daniel and daughter Sandra of Salisbury; Her son Freddy Whitley, wife Betty Wilder Whitley, and his daughter Angela Livingston, husband Shawn and their three children, Eli, Lucas and Aubrey; Her son Doug Whitley and his daughter Candi Whitley Stroupe, husband Erich and their two sons Holden and Finley; Son Matthew Whitley, wife Melanie and their three children, Ayden, Austin and Addison, and son Jordan Whitley and his daughter Raelyn; Her daughter Barbara Whitley Hinkle and her son, Charlie Hinkle and wife Paige, son Joshua Hinkle and daughter Ginnie Hinkle.
