Doris Lockleair Bell

Doris Lockleair Bell, 92, of Raleigh, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 20, 2023 at

her home.

Doris was born January 5, 1931, in Wake County, NC to the late George Stephen Lockleair and Minnie

Baker Lockleair. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 49 years, Homer Edison Bell; her

sisters Ada and Mary; and brothers George Thomas (GT) and Solon.

Doris graduated from Wakelon High School in Zebulon NC and went on to retire with over 30 years of

service to the NC Division of Motor Vehicles. She later worked with Bobby Murray Chevrolet until she

was recruited to work at the College Foundation of NC. In 1994, she finally left public work to take on

her favorite job, which was taking care of her granddaughter, Sinclaire. During this time, Doris and

Sinclaire developed a lifelong indelible bond. Doris was a member of New Life Church in Rolesville, NC.

where she faithfully served and worshipped the Lord for more than 75 years. Doris was known for her

love of God and the outdoors, determination, hard work, resilience, and unconditional love. She was

also known for her famous Homemade Vegetable Soup and Carrot Cakes.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Ronda Bell Owen; granddaughter, Sinclaire Owen Welch and her

husband, Jeremy; great-grandson, Homer Welch; sisters, Alice Wall and Norma Perry (Ed); brother,

Hutch Lockleair (Betty); many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and

nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors with whom she

shared her love.

The family is especially grateful to Mirna Chavez for the loving care, fun, and friendship she shared with

Doris and to Transitions LifeCare of Wake County (Hospice).

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at New Life Church at 6900

Zebulon Road, Wake Forest, NC. Burial will follow at New Life Church Cemetery at 800 North Main

Street, Rolesville, NC. The family will receive friends between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Thursday,

October 26, 2023 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC.
