Dorothy Coppedge Crocker

Raleigh- Dorothy Coppedge Crocker was born January 11, 1924, to Clyde and Hope Coppedge of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Her death occurred on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, a week following the celebration of her 99th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, William Crocker to whom she was married for over 50 years. She shared life with an older sister and brother, Elizabeth Coppedge Thomas, and Clyde Coppedge, Jr. Dorothy was educated in the local school system and later attended Appalachian State University. She invested her life skills, gifts and talents serving in administrative roles in the legal system, and the North Carolina Legislature. Dorothy was a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.

She is survived by her niece, Harriet Thomas Holmes, great niece, Elizabeth Holmes Carpenter, and great nieces and nephews, John Lewis Carpenter, and Laura Carpenter. She is also survived by her niece, Sue Macon Rudy, and Sue’s two daughters and grandchildren. Her great nephew, Brian Holmes died in 2011.

The family thanks all the caregivers that took care of her over the past several years.

A private graveside memorial service was held in the memorial garden at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
