Dorothy Vaughan Stainback

RALEIGH - Dorothy Vaughan Stainback, 88, passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

She was born in Norlina, North Carolina on March 30, 1937, the daughter of the late Hubert and Delia Cleaton Vaughan. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy E. Stainback; sister, Mildred Fletcher; and by a brother, Pete Vaughan.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Renee Stainback and husband, Steve Jarjabka, Connie Briggs and husband, Timothy Briggs, Melissa D'Ambra and husband, Francis D'Ambra; grandchildren, Brian Briggs (Stacy), Adam Briggs, Amy Briggs, Sarah Kopp (Seth), Madeline Thompson (Jeff), Delia Wheeler (Jon); 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Lynch, Velma Evans (Walter), Judy Vaughan (Greg); brothers, Odis Vaughn, James Vaughn (Brenda); and a host of extended family.

A private service for immediate family members will be held at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh where Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband.
