Dorothy Young Johnson

Willow Spring - Dorothy A. Young Johnson, age 85, died Friday, June 29, 2012. Dorothy was born February 25, 1927, in Harnett County, NC, to the late Hubert and Claudia Stancil Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Johnson, Jr.; brother, Clyde Young; and sister, Rue Mae Livingston. Dorothy reflected Proverbs virtuous woman who loved everyone and was a friend to all. She was kind and humble, a picture of Christ, her Lord. She loved nature and spent her life on a farm, working hard to raise crops, vegetables, flowers, and her family. A wonderful cook, she canned and froze food she grew and made preserves and jellies. Her diabetes and heart disease slowed her down, but her strong will and love of family kept her going. Dorothy has been a guiding light whose presence is not extinguished, just dimmed for a time. Dorothy leaves sons Larry Archie Johnson and Ronald Johnson of Willow Spring; daughters Linda Love (husband William) and Shannon Pearson (husband Mark) of Raleigh, NC, and Rhonda Ray of Bethlehem, PA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Marjorie Hicks and Jean Thornton of Clayton, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1241 Old Fairground Road, Willow Spring, NC 27592, and burial will follow at Fellowship Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1, from 6-8 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver St., Angier, NC 27501.
