Douglas T. Martin

Raleigh – Douglas (Doug) T. Martin, 67, died Sunday at home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with Reiter’s Syndrome. Doug was a 1967 graduate of Garner High School.  He later graduated from North Carolina State University and was employed as an engineer in the textile industry. He is survived by his wife, Renee Woodlief  Martin; son, David Martin; daughter, Kristin Martin; granddaughter, Rayne Martin; 4 brothers: Duke Martin (Martha) of Coppell, TX; Dann Martin (Rhonda) of Raleigh; Doren Martin of San Francisco, CA; Duane Martin of Commerce, MI; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.  Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. “Chief” Martin, Jr. and Marguerite Sayler Martin. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Merle Martin will be held Monday, March 28, at 7:30 PM at Wakeminster Baptist Church, 13221 Old Creedmoor Road, Raleigh 27613.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 6 until 7 PM. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and donations in Doug’s memory be made to Arthritis Foundation Carolina, 5300 Castlebrook Dr, Raleigh, NC 27604 http://www.arthritis.org/north-carolina/ . Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh.
