Dr. Larry Wayne Ladner, age 78, of Angier, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, surrounded by family. Dr. Ladner was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Nazare and Ruby Ladner. Upon graduating from high school, he received a football scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi where he completed his undergraduate and a master’s degree in education. He received his doctorate degree in education from Atlanta University in 1989. While perusing his education, he gave back to his community by coaching football – his first love. His entire professional career was spent in education transitioning through the ranks of teacher, coach, principal, and administrator. At the point of his retirement, Dr. Ladner was serving as Director of the Occupational Education Center in DeKalb County Georgia. A visitation will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on July 26, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier at 11:00 am on July 27, 2022 with burial immediately following at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. Throughout his life, Dr. Ladner was an avid entrepreneur and real estate investor. His endeavors kept him busy and constantly honing his handyman skills. He spent his latter years enjoying time with his family and friends in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Nazare Ladner; mother, Ruby Bond; and brother, Jimmie Ladner. He is survived by daughter, Laura Ladner Matthews (Eric) of Angier; son, Scott Ladner (Holly) of Holly Springs, honorary daughter and caretaker, Gina Farmer; grandchildren, Savanna Matthews, Roman Matthews, Kate Ladner and honorary granddaughter, Katuria Drumwright.
