Dure Jo Gillikin

Jo Gillikin, 90, of New York City died on March 30, 2025.

Graveside service will be held at 1 pm on April 14, 2025 at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC with the Rev. Lisa Fischbeck officiating.

Jo was born in Wilmington to Josephine Medford and Durham Gillikin in October 1934.

A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Jo became a professor of English and retired a Professor Emerita. She taught Literature, Poetry, and Women Studies. Jo was a member of the Episcopalian congregations of Christ and St. Stephen in NYC, and of St James in Arlington, VT.

Jo will lay to rest with her beloved of 64 years, Alma Graham. Jo and Alma were married in 2008; they had no children. She is survived by her nephew Christopher Smith, her great nephew Ken Wagner, and her great niece Rosemary Lewis.
