Earlene Lois Jewett Lancaster, 89, passed away Friday. Born in Warwick, RI, she graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Home Economics and later obtained a Master of Education from East Carolina University. She retired from the Dept. of Defense as a Reading Specialist. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Holland’s United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Earlene was married to Dr. Talmadge Lancaster. Together, they traveled extensively and lived abroad in Germany, France, Italy, and Iran. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed gourmet cooking, Bridge and oil painting. She was a passionate member of Holland’s United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the women’s circle group. Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Dr. Talmadge Lancaster; daughter, Holly Lancaster Clyne and husband, Terry of Nashville; son, John Talmadge Lancaster and wife, Kirsten of Sanford; sister, Priscilla Turner of Rhode Island; grandsons, Walker Pegram, Stone Pegram, Kyle Pegram and wife, Tara; great-grandsons, Rowan Pegram and Caleb Pegram. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, 3131-100 RDU Center Drive, Morrisville, NC 27560.
