Ed Little, 71, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Transitions LifeCare. Born February 4,1946 in Winston-Salem, he was the son of the late Melvin and Viona Little. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tracy; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jody Whitaker of Ararat, NC; stepson and daughter-in-law, Ryne and Jessica Herring of Charlotte; and granddaughters, Brianna and Kimberly Whitaker. In addition, Ed is survived by his extended family, Sue Adams and Tammy and David Munoz of Goldsboro; and Tonya Adams and Jeff Mahorney of Durham. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ted Little, whose wife Gloria still resides in N. Myrtle Beach, SC. Ed was a graduate of Western Carolina University, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was president of the State Employees Association of North Carolina in 1994-95 and retired in 2001 from the N.C. Department of Administration, Division of Purchase and Contract. Ed loved dogs, playing golf, gardening, and watching UNC Tar Heels basketball. The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1 p.m., with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wake County SPCA at 200 Petfinders Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611
