ANGIER – Charles Edward Baker, Jr., 63, after a courageous 3 year battle with brain cancer departed this life on earth to begin his new life with his heavenly father on March 23. Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Page Baker, son that he was very proud of, Jonathan Baker and wife, Tammy and granddaughter Emma, who was his sunshine, and mother, Eula Mae Baker. He is preceded in death by his father Charles Baker, Sr. Eddie worked as a mechanic for Chevrolet for 30 years; he most recently proudly worked the last 10 years for John Heister Chevrolet who he considered as family and close friends with all. He valued hard work and excellence because “if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing it right” he would always say. He would do anything for anyone but never expected anything in return. He was a friend to many and loyal to his friends. He enjoyed talking to everyone he met and never met a stranger. Eddie coached Little League baseball in Fuquay for years and enjoyed every minute of working with the kids and teaching them that the most important thing was not winning the game but to have fun and to always show good sportsmanship. He got the most joy out of watching these kids improve their skills over the season and seeing the joy in their faces when they accomplished their goals. Flowers are welcomed or donations in memory of Eddie can be made to The Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke Medical Center, DUMC box 3624 Durham, NC 27710 or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
