Edgar Von Bargen, known as "Ed" or "Eddie" by all who knew him, 81, passed away at his home on July 23, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, but lived on Long Island, New York, for most of his life. He moved to North Carolina in 2003 after he retired to be close to his son and to enjoy his life in all the ways he could. Just last year (at 80!) , he was riding around Sharon Harris Lake on a jet ski! He had worked hard his whole life, doing whatever needed to be done to provide the best for his family. He was a surrogate dad to many of his nieces and nephews as well. He loved his family very much and loved his many four-legged friends who he saw come and pass over the years. He is preceded in death by his last four-legged friend, Samantha, who we call all be assured, greeted him at that great Rainbow Bridge. Ed never met a stranger. He never turned down a good conversation. He always loved with his whole heart and that was and is felt by all those who knew him. He served his country as a proud member of the United States Navy. He loved this country and was always a proud American. He is survived by , ans his legacy will be carried on by, his loving wife Diane Von Bargen; his son and daughter in law; John Young and Lynne Plahanski; his daughter ans son in law, Kim Von Bargen and Richard Jones; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Von Bargen and Olga Von Bargen, and his sister, Betty. His celebration of life service will be held on his birthday, September 26, 2021 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner, North Carolina, from 4-6 PM ( a time of visiting , not a formal service), with Military Honors. Anyone who would like to attend and pay their respects is more than welcome to attend. Like we said, Ed never met a stranger.
