Raleigh - Edna B. Williams loved her family, friends, church, cooking, and gardening. She left us early Friday morning for a much deserved, pain free rest. Edna was born in Nash County September 28, 1926. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma and Stephan Baker, her siblings: Myrtle Douglass, Daisy Jones, Itimus Baker, Bennet Baker, and Tommy Baker, her beloved husband Bryan Grimes Williams, and granddaughter Leigh Sasser. She is survived by her children, Robin Moore (husband Jack Moore) and Blair Jerome (wife Ellen Jerome); grandchildren Austin Moore and Joel Sasser, and a number of other well-loved relatives, especially niece Sandra Vance and nephew Billy Jones. Edna took great pride in her work as a legal secretary (always being the go to Individual for spelling and complicated syntax) working with the NC Board of Nursing, The NC Attorney General’s Office, Douglass & Douglass Attorneys, and retiring with Carolina Power & Light. Upon retirement, mom had extra time for growing flowers and felt a calling to volunteer with extra hours she had. She was devoted to her Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Raleigh, spent many, many hours recording her very lovely Southern accent for the Triangle Reading Services for the Blind, and delivering Meals on Wheels for the “Old People” in her parlance. She also took pleasure and pride in cooking, with a few special recipes always finding favor. Many is the time that folks cut on line at a church picnic or family reunion to get one of her Lemon tarts. The family would like to thank the many kind employees at Falls River Court, Dr. Lalita Sidana of Doctors Making House Calls, and Transitions Life Care, particularly Nurse Joan Bruno for the excellent way mom was treated. A special recognition goes to Ruby, her long time care-giver and friend prior to her residence at Falls River Court. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, June 6, at 11 AM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 until 11 AM. There will be a private burial later at Montlawn Memorial Park. If you know or knew Edna, you know she loved flowers, therefore it is impossible to suggest against them, but for those so inclined, a donation to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 would be appreciated.
