Edna Helen Kluge Haberkamp, 84, returned to her heavenly home on Monday, February 24, 2020. Edna was born February 20, 1936 to the late Edward Kluge and Martha Schauer Kluge, in Ames, Nebraska. Edna grew up on the family farm in Valley, Nebraska. After her high school graduation, Edna moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During her time in Washington, she met an Air Force Staff Sergeant, Willard (Bill) Haberkamp. Bill and Edna were married on January 21, 1956, and enjoyed sixty-four years together and were blessed with four children and three grandchildren. Edna and Bill relocated several times with Bill’s jobs at GM and IBM before settling in Raleigh in 1984. At the age of thirty-four, Edna came to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a devoted follower of Jesus, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Edna treasured time with her family. She served faithfully in several ministry areas bearing witness to all Jesus has done in her life. Edna’s faith was the foundation of her life and she always seized and celebrated moments to share His love with another. Edna taught children’s Sunday School, lead bible study groups for Community Bible Study, participated in The Buddy Program and Vacation Bible School. Edna was an active member at Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh. Edna also volunteered at UNC Rex Hospital for over thirty years. Edna was kind hearted and soft spoken. She always had time for others. She will be dearly missed by all those who love her and who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. After moving twelve times, Edna is now in her eternal home. Edna is survived by her husband, Bill, and son William, daughter-in-law Paula and their children Melissa and Brian Haberkamp of Cookeville, TN, and son Wade, daughter-in-law Lynn, and their daughter Nicole Haberkamp of Linden, MI, sisters, Irma Deeth of Seattle, WA and Alma Schroeder of Omaha, Nebraska.
