Edna Langdon Ogburn

Willow Spring- Edna Langdon Ogburn of Willow Spring passed away on March 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Edna was born near Coats in Harnett County on March 17, 1923 to the late Grover Cleveland and Mittie Langdon.  In 1945, she married Rudolph Ogburn and moved to Willow Springs where they farmed and raised their family until Rudolph’s death in 1979.  Edna was also predeceased by sisters, Rosa Rambeau, Iris Barnes, Eurice Ogburn Martin, Vallie Sauls and Ruth McNeill, and brothers, J. Hector, Woodrow, Grover, Sherwood and Gerald Langdon.  She was a lifelong Primitive Baptist, primarily attending Sandy Grove, Willow Springs, and Lamm’s Grove Churches. Mama’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family.  She loved tending to her vegetable garden and growing some of the most beautiful flowers on earth.  An amazing cook, she loved preparing for family meals, reunions, holidays, and church dinners. Edna is survived by her children, Rue Stewart of Buies Creek; Jamone Clocker (Joe) of Fuquay-Varina; Rudy Ogburn (Deb) of Raleigh; and Tandy Ogburn (Sarah) of Willow Spring; grandchildren Scott Stewart, Shelly Humphrey, Shana Stewart, Stan Stewart, Karen Hale, Laura Blausey, Mandy Shawver, Sim Ogburn, Amy Mullis, David Ogburn, Langdon Ogburn, and Reagan Ogburn; 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, March 13th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Fuquay-Varina.  The family will receive family and friends 5-7pm on Sunday, March 12th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
