RALEIGH – Edna “Sue” Johnson Rhodes, 90, passed away on Friday at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Viola Smith Johnson. Sue worked for the NC Department of Revenue for 25 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh for over 60 years where she served as a member of the choir, Sunday school teacher and volunteered with WMU. In her free time, Sue enjoyed going on trips, eating out with friends, bird watching, spending time with her great grandchildren, reading her bible, thinking about her two precious daughters. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 2:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Sue is survived by her daughters, Karen Watkins of Raleigh, Beth Franson and husband, Greg of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Cindy Pearce and husband, Jerry of Garner; grandchildren, Jason Gore and wife, Diana, Brandon Watkins and wife, Julie, Rob Council and wife, Kelly, Eric Franson and wife, Emily, Steven Rhodes and wife, Amanda, Rickie Watkins and wife, Krisie; great grandchildren, Addison, Aiden, Connor, Ezra, Ava, Matthew, Jessica, Meagan, Thomas, Gracie, Brady and Piper, Austin, Dylan and Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hal E. Rhodes, Sr.; son, Hal E. Rhodes, Jr.; son-in-law, Rickey Watkins.
