Edward Hugh Woods

Edward ‘Ed” H. Woods, Jr., 62, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Joliet, IL Ed worked in the Pharmaceutical industry as Senior Automation Engineer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 26, 2021 at Brooks Ave. Church of Christ, 700 Brooks Ave, Raleigh, NC 27607. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 10:45 am. Ed’s strength of will and determination was only matched by his strength in faith, something he shared with all and instilled in the ones he loved. His family and friends fondly remembers his joyous smile and cheerful voice whenever he would share his love for Christ. Ed might have seemed like the quiet type, but would welcome all with open arms and open ears. He thought deeply, loved deeper, and was always gentle and kind. Ed is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Woods; daughters, Elizabeth Maynard and husband Gary, Tamra Smelser and husband Nick; son, Tye Zola and wife Karina; parents, Edward Sr and Helen Woods; sisters, Diane Engstrom and husband Roger and Deby Bushby and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Kristopher Peet, Evelyn Zola, Caiden Zola and Kailee Smelser and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed had a heart for service and serving others. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in his memory to send individuals to Easter Seals YMCA Camp Oakes.
