WILLOW SPRING- Edward Joseph Castro, 75, passed away Monday at Johnston Health in Clayton. A native of New Jersey, he was the son of the late Edward Anthony Castro and Florence Wills Castro. Though some knew him as Edward, he will also be remembered fondly as “Chip”, “Ed” or “Papa”. Ed served honorably in the US Air Force during Vietnam as an Air Traffic Controller. Most recently, he was the owner of Bargain Barn thrift store in Willow Spring. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 14th at 3:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The private family burial will take place at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington. Edward is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Bollen Castro; daughter, Nancy Castro Mundinger of Willow Spring; son-in-law, Thomas Mundinger of Willow Spring; son, Edward Russell Castro and wife, Tina of Castle Hayne; sisters, Eileen Lang of Palm Beach, FL, Barbara Reiter and husband, Dr. Richard Reiter of Wilmington; brothers, Bobby Castro and wife, Linda of Bronxville, NY, Ricky Castro and wife, Irene of Lake Mahopac, NY; grandchildren, Edward William Castro of Rochester, NY, Jessica Mundinger Reaves husband, Michael of Willow Spring, Matthew Russell Castro of Castle Hayne, Alessandra Grace Mundinger of Willow Spring, SamanthaAnn Jane Mundinger of Willow Spring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Drons; brother, Tommy Castro; and grandson, Thomas Edward Mundinger.
