ANGIER – Ed Keenan, 72, passed away at his home on Sunday. Born in Washington, PA, he was the son of the late Howard Woodrow Keenan and Cecelia (Keenan) Reese.
Ed is survived by the mother of his children, Susan A. Keenan; daughters, Courtney Blackburn (Hunter) of Angier and Candice Keenan of Raleigh; sons, Jason Keenan of Angier and Eddie Keenan (Audra) of Angier; grandchildren, Kennedy, Jak, Harper, and Gracie Keenan; Chance and Charlotte Hatley, Boone, Holden, and Grayson Blackburn; Tilly and Lucy Keenan.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1968, Ed enlisted to serve his country in the Unites States Marine Corp and was honored for distinguished service during the Vietnam War. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter and was a national sales representative in the fire industry for over 30 years. A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Duke basketball, and an avid reader, he could often be found in his barn engaged in those activities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Fletcher; and brother, Howard Keenan.
The family will receive visitors at the home of Susan Keenan from 4:00-6:00 pm on Monday, June 26th to celebrate Ed’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
