BENSON - Edwin Douglas Barnes, 43, of Benson, passed away unexpectedly on January 29th, 2025, in Raleigh, NC. He was born in Pitt County on March 22nd, 1981, to Robert Ingram Barnes, Jr., and Barbara Johnson Barnes.
Edwin is survived by his loving and supportive family; wife, Susan Ramsey; parents, Robert and Barbara Barnes; sisters, Laura Petersen (Shannon) and Amy Hossfeld (David); and sons, Gage Barnes and Hunter Barnes. In addition, Edwin is survived by numerous nieces and nephews that he always enjoyed seeing. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hubert Edward Johnson and Elfreda Johnson; paternal grandparents, Robert Ingram Barnes, Sr. and Kathryn Elizabeth Barnes; and his brother, Robert I. Barnes, III.
Edwin worked most of his life in hospitality, providing support and managerial expertise to various restaurants throughout his career. He was the kind of manager that always wanted to support his co-workers and make work fun and enjoyable for all. He had the best customer service and was a dedicated employee.
Outside of work, he loved to spend time at home with Susan and their dog & cat, go fishing, watch movies, and come up with new recipe ideas. He made a point to constantly keep in touch with his parents and sisters. He loved comparing movies with his dad when they spoke, which always resulted in his anticipation to see his recommendations.
Those that knew him, knew he was witty and had a laugh that was infectious. Edwin constantly kept a sense of humor, jokes, and a sense of sarcasm that would make you burst out laughing. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by many.
A graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC on February 7th, 2025, at 12:00PM.
